CHARACTER INFORMATION:

Name: Midna

Alias, if any: Twilight Princess

Series: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Mode of entry into the RP: Refugee from a destroyed world.

History:

The Twilight Realm is the antithesis of the Light World – the realm known as Hyrule, ruled over by Princess Zelda. This world of darkness has its own royalty; the Twilight Princess known as Midna.

Centuries ago, the Light Spirits of Hyrule trapped a group of evil acolytes within the Twilight, forever banishing them to a world where they would be little more than shadow. They did this, for these people harnessed a corruptive power and made it corporeal, calling it the Fused Shadows. Separated from their artefacts, these people used what little magic they had left to make the place inhabitable, and they erected one massive structure, which later became known as the Palace of Twilight.

The banished inhabitants morphed and changed, becoming creatures of the Twilight, and never being able to live within the Light.

The leader of the Twilight, though bearing a royal title, was elected, and the powerful Midna was chosen to rule over her people. The other candidate, Zant, was a crazed creature, his lusts for revenge growing ever more powerful, until one day, gifted by the powers of a god, took the Twilight Palace by force. Midna fought him bravely, but she was no match for his new abilities, and was turned into a small, seemingly helpless imp creature.

Ashamed, she fled the Palace, allowing Zant to twist and transform her subjects.

Hope was not lost for the Twilight Princess, however. She held with her one forth of the Fused Shadows, the ancient magic of her tribe, and using its power, began a search for the other three fragments.

Her searches led her to find the Chosen Hero Link in form of a wolf, and remembering ancient legends that the Twili’s saviour would come in form of beast, she freed him from his prison. However, she took advantage of his confusion and used him for her own ends, making him secure the fragments of the Fused Shadows for her. She did not care for the Light World, despite seeming to have formed a friendship with Princess Zelda. Her only wish was to kill Zant and return her world to normal.

Soon after securing the forth piece of the Fused Shadows, Link and Midna were accosted by Zant, leaving Link trapped in his wolf form as lay half dying upon his back. He carried her to Princess Zelda, who gave her own essence to save her, and also made Link find the Master Sword to free him from his curse.

Fully intent now on destroying Zant and also aiding the Light World, Midna continued to travel with Link. They eventually returned to the Twilight, and Zant was confronted and defeated, but not before revealing his ‘god’, Ganondorf, to them. Knowing that they would all lose if Ganondorf was allowed to live, Midna helped Link defeat him, though seemingly died herself.

She did not die, but instead returned to her true form. However, before she could find Link and Zelda once more, something bizarre happened in the lands of Hyrule, and she found herself pulled away, but not even back to the Twilight…

Personality:

Midna was, and still can be, a liar, a manipulator, and an untrustworthy creature. She placed herself above other people – even her own. However, due to the aid that Link and Princess Zelda gave her when she was near death, this has changed. She has developed a sense of loyalty and great courage, and even of honour, for she attempted to destroy Ganondorf on her own to save her two friends. She was also disgusted when she saw the havoc that Zant had wrecked on her homeland, and deeply ashamed for leaving it, though did not dwell on her remorse. She seeks ways to right what she sees as wrong, and though she may have changed to be more considerate, she still would not be adverse to using people to do so.

One thing that has stayed the same with Midna throughout her life is her strength, and her sense of pride. Upon seeing her imp form, she was so ashamed that she fled, not wishing her people to see her failure. However, this stunted form did not deter her from finding a way to survive, showing great strength within her.

Despite being catty and sometimes downright sadistic, Midna does have a great capacity for care and gentleness. However, she also bears grudges, and will not take servitude lying down.

In her true form, Midna is a very tall, very beautiful woman with a perfect hourglass figure. Her skin is slightly lilac, mottled with black swirls and whorls, though appears grey in some lights, and her lips are a deep purple. Her eyes are crimson and yellow and just above them rests an intricate headdress. Turquoise markings almost like tattoos, except glowing, cluster around her body in certain areas, and her hair is long and a bright orange in colour, seeming to pulsate as though it too is alive. She wears a long cloak, her hair pinned to the side of the hood, and a split skirt, both black with white markings – all geometric, as seems to be the favoured style of the Twili.

In her imp form, Midna stands at perhaps two feet in height, and has a distinctly feminine form despite having no visible genitalia. Her skin is mottled black and white, and again turquoise markings glow eerily on her flesh. She wears no clothes as she has no need of them, but her helm – a now dry husk of the Fused Shadows, rests on her head, covering one of her red and yellow eyes. Her hair hangs in a tail out of this, but can lengthen and shorten in shape, sometimes even appearing as a giant hand. Her own limbs in this form are spindly, so she tends to use that for any particular feats of strength. Also, as her legs and feet are too small to take her far, she is usually seen floating a few feet above the ground.

Abilities:

In her normal form, Midna can channel the powers of the Fused Shadows, giving her extreme strength in her magical prowess. She can hide and move in Shadows – indeed, she prefers keeping away from bright lights, though they no longer truly harm her- though will only lurk in the shadows of those who let her.

Her voice has a peculiar quality to it; she seems to speak in a nonsense language, however any who hear her seem to understand her, and her words echo even in a crowded room.

Midna can also hide certain items in a void by snapping her fingers, and bring them out in the same way. However, she cannot create items from nothingness, but must be given them to hide. One of these such things is the stone that allows Link to transform into a wolf at any given time if he touches it. She can turn into an imp at will now, though prefers to keep to her normal form. In her imp from, Midna’s hair is her most powerful weapon, though she can still hide things away.
